We were invited by our friends Alfred and José to spend some time in their weekend house outside of Barcelona. Since it is also the season for Calçots (Catalan green onions), we brought our grill and had a jolly time grilling, peeling, dipping and eating them in a most beautiful surrouding.
The property itself, has a forest feel to it, with its rising hills and visiting animals. In addition to the main house, there is also a smaller version of the main house for us to sleep in :) Nabí and I were entertained by Alfred and his incredible collection of harpsichord LP´s, this man (my student) puts me to shame by how much he knows about the repertoire of a relatively unknown instrument, MY instrument. Alfred can hum and whistle along any symphony and any harpsichord piece. He began to love the harpsichord even before the early music revival phenomenon in the late 70´s, he has survived all the librarian-turned harpsichordists and pedalled-octaved recordings of the harpsichords from the 70´s, and today, he is as passionate about the music as he was then, how many musicians have a love for their instrument to a level remotely close to his? I don´t know. As a performing harpsichordist, I am only grateful that there are people out there who are like him.
I´m going to win some prize somewhere with this photo, I´m sure of it...
